Discuss books that have been made into movies, including the recent movies based on the Guardians of Ga'hoole series by Kathryn Lasky and Flipped by Wendelin Van Draanen.  Open real owl pellets in honor of the owls in Guardians of Ga'hoole.

Make edible haunted houses from graham crackers, icing, and decorations.

See hawks, owls, and falcons and learn about their adaptations, habitat requirements, conservation status, and hunting and food preferences.  This program will be held in the Community House (the white building across the street from the police station).

Twelve-year-old Addie tries to cope with her mother's erratic behavior and being separated from her beloved stepfather and half-sisters when she and her mother go to live in a small trailer by the railroad tracks on the outskirts of Scheunectady, New York.

In a future North America, where the rulers of Panem maintain control through an annual televised survival competition pitting young people from each of the twelve districts against one another, sixteen-year-old Katniss's skills are put to the test when she voluntarily takes her younger sister's place.
