A new project at Milan Public Library in the Genealogy Department is organizing the obituary clippings from the Milan Leader and other papers. This project was first started by Carl & Lillian Brown many years ago. Over the years they published nine books of over 3,500 obituaries. We are now organizing the clippings that they did not finish and are also indexing the clippings collected by the library staff. The team will be publishing eight more books of 150 pages each. (All books are indexed) This effort will make available about 6,000 more obituaries for genealogy research. Alexandrine Sanford, Michelle Sawicki and Millard Phillips make up the project team. If you are into genealogy and have relatives from the Milan area, come in and look over the Genealogy Department. You may find information that will assist in your family research. We now have an online computer for genealogy research as well.
