I. Call to order at 6:33 p.m., Biederman

Trustees present: Laurence Biederman, Valorie Gleason, Millard Phillips, Mark Zawacki

Trustees absent (excused):  Jeffrey Sabo, and David DeKorte

Staff Present: Joyce Armitage (Interim Director), Nihal Riad (Reference Assistant / Technical Services)

Others Present:  Marianne Hartzell and Joseph Mika from Hartzell-Mika Consulting LLC (HMC)

II. Public Comment:  None

III. Meeting with representatives of HMC

The Milan Public Library Board of Trustees met with representatives of Hartzell-Mika Consulting LLC, a consulting, training and executive search firm that exclusively works with libraries.

Ms. Hartzell and Dr. Mika reviewed the credentials of twelve candidates.  Based upon the experience, education and credentials of candidates, the legal requirements of the director position, the director position description, and the preferences of the MPL Board of Trustees,  HMC recommended Evelyn Holzworth, Lawrence Marble, Julianne Smith, and Susan Wess for additional consideration.  The MPL Board of Trustees agreed with their recommendation.

HMC did not recommend Galen Avery, Beth Bogdanski, Elkordy, Elizabeth Goldman, James Jondrow, Daniel Lodge,  May Ann Scott, and Marsha Wagnar.

IV. Continuation of hiring process

Joyce Armitage and Nihal Riad will review the interview questions used in the past and modify them into a two interview format.

The Board agreed to interview the four recommended candidates, then select two candidates for a second interview, then select one candidate for an offer of employment.  Laurence Biederman will contact the four recommended candidates to inform them of their selection for further consideration and to request their completion of a formal application for employment.
 

IV. MOTION:  Adjourn at 7:57 PM, by Biederman, approved unanimously.
